Feed on His Faithfulness

Psalms 37:3

“Trust in the Lord, and do good;
Dwell in the land, and feed on His faithfulness.”
What a powerful thing the faithfulness of God is. Do you realize that He is faithful? Taking a little time to break this verse down we can see some foundational truth here that will release our hearts into a greater wonder of Who He is.

1. Trust in the Lord

How valuable it is to have a simple trust in God. Just as Jesus told us not to worry about tomorrow and all the things associated with it. If God takes care of the birds of the air how much more will He take care of you? Simple trust is an asset in our spiritual account that we cannot live without.
Matthew 6:25
“Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air?”

2. Do Good

Romans 12:21
“Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.”
Here is a simple choice we make every day – to do good or otherwise. Many times we need to make conscious decisions to do good, to bless people, to help people and make a difference. The Bible says that if it is in our power to do good that we should do it. (Proverbs 3:27) Everyone of us has a place of influence through the people that surround us. Opportunities avail for us to help others. We are blessed to be a blessing.

3. Dwell in the Land

John 15:7
“If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you. By this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit; so you will be My disciples.”
God has a land for us to dwell in. Not only geographically, but in the spirit. His land is what we want, the land of His Presence and glory. When we dwell in that land we will prosper and be blessed. Jesus told us to abide in Him, then we will ask and it will be done for us. There is a blessing when we abide and dwell in His?land, abiding in Him.

4. Feed on His Faithfulness

As we apply our hearts to live out things mentioned above we will see the faithfulness of God in our lives. We can live on His faithfulness, feeding off the abundant life that Jesus promised us.
John 10:10
“The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly. I am the good shepherd.”
In the Greek the word for abundance is “perissos” which means superabundant in quantity, superior, excessive, exceedingly abundantly above, beyond measure, superfluous, more and very highly. When Jesus says,  “I am the Good Shepherd.” He is making a point to us that He is not just “the Shepherd”, but the GOOD Shepherd. When we discover the faithfulness of God we see the goodness of God in our lives. Feed on His faithfulness today! God is really good!
